(Blue Ridge, Georgia) – As a candidate for the Georgia General Assembly in District 7, wrestling coach Sam Snider has repeatedly attacked incumbent Representative and Speaker of the House David Ralston demanding that voters list “just one or two things Mr. Ralston has done for our district.” Starting today in media outlets in Fannin, Gilmer, and Dawson Counties, ninth generation Fannin County resident Julie Weeks will answer that question in a campaign ad entitled “David Ralston Helped Save My Life.”
In September of 2010, Weeks, a home health nurse and Blue Ridge resident, was involved in a life-threatening head-on collision as she travelled to visit a patient. To save the life of Weeks and her son, they were airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN by a LifeFlight helicopter.
Weeks credits the quick availability of the LifeFlight helicopter to the leadership of Speaker David Ralston. Committed to providing life-saving resources to his friends and neighbors, Ralston inked a deal with Erlanger Medical to build a new, accessible helipad in Fannin County. The day of Julie’s horrific accident, September 1, 2010, was the ground breaking for that project.
“He saw the need for it,” said Weeks. “He worked hard to make this happen. He cares about the citizens here. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have pushed for us to have the helicopter.
“I am so grateful to David that we had the helicopter here on the day of our accident. Because we just don’t know what would’ve happened if it wasn’t.”
